So much nicer than the old steel cleats. Easy install, flip down so no more stubbing toes. Myself and the kids are happy.
I like the black look of the cleat, unlike the traditional stainless look. Also nice that it folds down
So this was overkill for my little boat but it actually works pretty well. Super light and decently strong. Super easy to install. Locks in place and wraps line well. Looks nice.
This cleat was ordered to provide a temporary tie-down spot for a pontoon boat on a lakeside decking and it performs great in that role. The low-profile design makes it pretty innocuous when not in use and it folds down to prevent someone tripping over it if it's place in an are where someone might walk. While it's not rated for a specific weight, it had no problem holding a 1200 lb boat on a windy day, though part of that will be down to the fact that I replaced the included hardware with some larger screws to ensure the cleat stayed put. I like the design, though I suspect the nylon will fade in the sun over time and will not stay black for long. The features, design and execution on this are all good, especially for the price, so it has earned its five stars.
I drilled 6 holes with a 3/16” bit, and easily installed the cleat with 6 included stainless-steel screws. In fact, the set comes with a driver bit as well! This was the easiest cleat I’ve ever installed, and is very convenient with its pop-up style to keep from stubbing your toe on it when not in use. Six sturdy screws ensure that this will hold under all conditions our lake throws at us, and I’m certain the cleat itself has the strength to survive any storm we receive (but we are not in a hurricane area).
